Digital ID just took a lightyear leap forward.

Indigenous Digital ID for the world.

Digital ID for Our Communities

The IdentDEFI SSID Project aims to design, pilot, and evaluate a secure and accessible digital identification (ID) system that addresses the specific needs of marginalised communities. The primary focus is on providing an inclusive digital identity solution to those who face systemic barriers to access, such as individuals transitioning from incarceration, refugees, homeless populations, elderly people with limited digital literacy, and others facing socio-economic and geographic exclusion.

Through this project, we aim to test the usability, effectiveness, and impact of a digital ID system that can enable individuals to access essential services, exercise autonomy, and integrate more fully into society.

Next Steps for IdenDefi

The IdentDEFI SSID Project has the following core aims –

Pilot Testing of Digital ID System

To develop and pilot a secure, user-friendly, and adaptable digital ID system (SSID) that can serve marginalised groups.

Inclusive Data Collection

To gather qualitative and quantitative data on how the digital ID system impacts individuals’ ability to access key services such as healthcare, housing, employment, financial systems, and social benefits.

Assessment of Accessibility and Trust

To evaluate the system’s accessibility for diverse user groups, including those with varying levels of digital literacy, tech access, and mobility, as well as assess how participants perceive the security and privacy of the system.

Evaluate Scalability and Sustainability

To gather insights into the potential for scaling the system to other regions or groups, taking into account the challenges faced by marginalised communities in accessing traditional forms of ID and services.
